How is it used?

Methamphetamine increases the amount of the natural chemical dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is critical in body movement, motivation, and the reinforcement of rewarding behaviors. Continued methamphetamine use causes changes in the brain's dopamine system associated with reduced coordination and impaired verbal learning.

Signs of drug use:

The following conditions may be indications of methamphetamine use

• extreme weight loss
• severe dental problems
• intense itching, leading to skin sores from scratching
• anxiety
• confusion
• memory loss
• sleeping problems
• violent behavior
• paranoia
• hallucinations

MCP, as required by law 75-10-1306(2), MCA maintains this contaminated properties list that is always accessible to the public. This is a live document that updates as properties are reported to the department and as properties are delisted after meeting the decontamination standard.

Owners of listed properties are encouraged to contact the department so that we may assist with any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the delisting process.

Methamphetamine Cleanup Contractor Certification

Individuals interested in engaging in projects for decontamination efforts of listed contaminated properties must be certified by the department ARM 17.74.508.

1. A completed Methamphetamine Cleanup Contractor application.
2. The associated fee established in ARM 17.74.518
3. Certificate of completion of a department-approved 16-hour initial or 8-hour refresher Methamphetamine Cleanup Contractor course issued by the training provider pursuant to ARM 17.74.514(2)(f)
4. Certificate of completion for HAZWOPER training, pursuant to 29 CFR 1910.120

For law enforcement to report a Methamphetamine incident within a structure, as required by MCA 75-10-1306(1), two forms need to be filled out and submitted to the Department of Environmental Quality Methamphetamine Cleanup Program.

These forms are to be used only by law enforcement reporting agencies to report methamphetamine incidents to the department.
