Petroleum Tank Cleanup | Town Pump | Miles City
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has approved clean-up activities for a petroleum release at Town Pump of Miles City. The clean-up activities are required by DEQ under the authority of 75-5-501 through 75-11-526, Montana Code Annotated (MCA) and Administrative Rules of Montana (ARM) 17.56.606. The DEQ Petroleum Tank Cleanup Section requested, reviewed, and approved the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) prepared and submitted by AJM Inc. on behalf of the owner/operator of the facility listed below. The work to be conducted under the above-described CAP will include excavation and transport of petroleum-contaminated soil and groundwater at the Town Pump of Miles City Facility to the nearby Miles City Landfill beginning late-July until mid-September 2025. This work will involve the use of heavy equipment and vehicles such as excavator, frontend loader, compactor, and dump trucks. Area residents and visitors can expect to see soil and groundwater disbursed in the location of a former underground storage tank and surrounding area. Local traffic may be affected by transport of contaminated soil and groundwater to the landfill location.
