Coal Mining | Prospecting X2012339 Notice for Transfer XT1 | Comment Period Closes August 24, 2026
Pursuant to the Montana Strip and Underground Reclamation Act, notice is hereby given that Westmoreland Absaloka Mining, LLC, mailing address of P.O. Box 449 Hardin, MT 59034, has filed an application for Transfer of Coal Prospecting Permit X2012339 with the Coal Section of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The permit is to be transferred from Westmoreland Resources, Inc., to Westmoreland Absaloka Mining, LLC. A transfer is required because total ownership and control has changed. This permit is expired; no additional prospecting can occur under the permit, but reclamation activities can still occur, and a bond remains in place until final bond release.
