Waste Management Bureau | Environmental Assessment for the Motor Vehicle Wrecking Facility: The Truck Shop of Billings Inc. | Billings, MT | Comment Period Ends May 24, 2026
To comply with the Montana Environmental Policy Act, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) prepared a draft environmental assessment (Draft EA) regarding a proposed Motor Vehicle Wrecking Facility (MVWF) in Yellowstone County, Montana.
The current MVWF in Yellowstone County needs to modify the existing boundaries of their license due to a Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) roadway project in the area. Currently, they are licensed to operate a wrecking facility on 8.46 acres at their current site. MDT is planning to acquire 1.68 acres of the property for a roadway project. The Truck Shop of Billings Inc. is planning to add a 2.876-acre parcel to their wrecking facility boundary. The legal description of the 2.876-acre expansion is G2 SUBDIVISION, S20, T01 N, R27 E, BLOCK1, Lot 2, (20)
The purpose of the Draft EA is to inform the public of the proposed action and to seek participation in the decision-making process.
