Montana Department of Environmental Quality Waste Management and Remediation Division (DEQ-WMR) has applied for an MPDES permit to discharge treat and discharge mine impacted water (MIW) to Belt Creek in Belt, Montana. DEQ-MWR proposes to discharge up to 165 gallons per minute of treated MIW into Belt Creek. The MIW will be treated to achieve water quality standards at the point of discharge. The permit includes effluent limitations to protect human health and the environment and the beneficial uses of the receiving waterbody.
