The renewal of this General Permit will continue to provide statewide general permit coverage for owners/operators of petroleum cleanup operations that discharge to state surface waters. The renewal is for a five-year cycle.

The General Permit allows petroleum cleanup operations that meet effluent limits and other conditions specified in the permit to discharge to state surface waters. The General Permit includes effluent limitations for Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes (total), MTBE, pH and oil & grease and monitoring requirements for flow. In addition, the draft permit includes a requirement for erosion control through installation and maintenance of Best Management Practices.
