Junk Vehicle Program | Notice of Proposed Rule Amendment| Comment Period Closes July 03, 2026
The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), at the direction of the Governor’s Office, has prioritized fixing the readability found in some Administrative Rules. Our review of the rules for the Junk Vehicle Program identified fourteen rules that represented material that should be made easier to read by reducing the grade level at which the rules are written; or, alternatively, removed.
The DEQ is proposing several amendments to Title 17, chapter 50 of the Administrative Rules of Montana, pertaining to Title 75, chapter 10, part 5 Motor Vehicle Recycling and Disposal Act, Montana Code Annotated.
If the agency receives requests for a public hearing on the proposed rulemaking from either 10 percent or 25 people, whichever is less, of the persons directly affected by the proposed rulemaking; from the appropriate administrative rule review committee of the Legislature; from a governmental subdivision or agency; or from an association having not less than 25 members who will be directly affected, a hearing will be held.
