To comply with the Montana Environmental Policy Act, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) prepared a draft environmental assessment (Draft EA) regarding the proposed southern expansion of the Flathead County Landfill in Kalispell, Montana.

The proposal includes approximately 121 acres of property located south of the currently operating Flathead County Landfill which is located on US Highway 93 north of Kalispell. The site would be accessed via Disposal Rd.

This expansion would allow for the continued acceptance of Group II, Group III, and Group IV waste, alleviating the need for this waste to be transported to outside of the county for final disposal.

The purpose of the Draft EA is to inform the public of the proposed action and to seek participation in the decision-making process.
