Asbestos Control Program| Notice of Proposed Rule Amendment| Comment Period Closes June 19, 2026

  • May 22 2026

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is proposing several amendments to Title 17, chapter 74 of the Administrative Rules of Montana, pertaining to Title 75, chapter 2, part 5 Asbestos Control, Montana Code Annotated.

The Montana DEQ, at the direction of the Governor’s Office, has prioritized fixing the "readability" found in some Administrative Rules. Our review of the rules for the Asbestos Control Program identified four rules that represented material that should be made easier to read by reducing the grade level at which the rules are written.
