HELENA—The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is accepting public comment specific to installation of new underground storage tanks at the Town Pump in Troy, located in Lincoln County Mont. DEQ has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) as required by the Montana Environmental Policy Act on the proposed project that would add 11 new underground storage tank systems. The tanks and piping would be continuously monitored for operations and leak detection.

DEQ is currently accepting public comment on the Draft EA until April 1, 2022. Following public comment, DEQ will consider and respond to substantive comments received in response to the Draft EA and proceed with a determination. Options for next steps may include an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a revised EA, a final decision with modifications deemed necessary based on analysis in the EA and/or public comment, or that the EA is adequate and adopted as final. Notice of DEQ’s decision will be given each to person who submitted written comment or requested a notice of the decision.
