Climate Pollution Reduction Grant | Draft List of Reduction Measures | Comment Period Closes February 15, 2024 | Public Meeting February 8, 2024

  • February 01 2024

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is pleased to share a draft list of priority pollution reduction measures for inclusion in Montana’s Priority Climate Action Plan (Action Plan) under the federal Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program. DEQ is seeking public comment on the measures and will host a virtual public meeting Feb. 8, 2024, to provide an overview of the planning process and next steps, and to answer questions on the list of measures.

Throughout the fall and early winter of 2023, DEQ gathered your ideas for implementation-ready reduction measures for Montana’s Action Plan (EPA's 'PCAP'). We received over 350 suggestions from more than 100 individuals, organizations, state and local government agencies, and industry. We truly appreciate your thoughtful input.

Our staff has worked diligently to review these suggestions, taking into consideration:

  • Montana’s policy objectives, climate planning efforts, and existing resources and capacity
  • Other state and federal funding sources and opportunities
  • Level of stakeholder interest and support
  • The extent to which a measure is innovative, non-regulatory and implementation-ready
  • EPA’s objectives, project and applicant eligibility, scoring criteria, and other parameters of the CPRG implementation grant program.
