Sustainable Financing Workshop

September 24th, 2010

The current economic situation and resulting budget crunch is putting pressure on state and tribal wetland programs that may already be struggling for adequate funding. This is especially true for state and tribal programs with small staffs and for programs which rely heavily on one or two funding sources. States and tribes can help address these concerns through strategic, sustainable financial planning. The goals of sustainable finance are for states and tribes to have the money they need to meet program goals, as well as to have the confidence that there will be a relatively steady supply of funds year after year. State and tribal programs need to diversify funding sources and find ways to accomplish more with he dollars they have.

The Sustainable Finance of State and Tribal Wetland Programs training is a full-day, interactive workshop geared towards wetland program staff. The training will explore the successful and innovative ways that states and tribes are funding wetland programs using federal and state money as well as other funding sources. We will also provide instruction on how to increase the likelihood of receiving funding and how to accomplish more with existing dollars through sessions on communicating effectively with decision-makers, building partnerships, and developing financial plans.

Cost of the September 24, 2010 program is $25.00 and is separate from the other Workshop Registration.
