Status of 2009 Legislation:
The 2009 Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Legislation (Senate Bill 97) was signed by the Governor on April 28, 2009.
Applications Encouraged for PETRO Board Positions
The Montana Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Board (PTRCB) is seeking Montanans of various backgrounds and interests to serve on the Board. Positions up for appointment by Governor Brian Schweitzer for a three-year term beginning June 30, 2008 are:
Representative of service station dealers
Representative of the general public

The Board conducts analysis of the viability of the Petroleum Tank Compensation fund and reports its findings biannually. The fund was established in 1989 to provide a funding mechanism to address timely cleanup of tank releases. Board membership is unpaid, but expenses and travel are reimbursed. Consultants Meetings
The Department of Environmental Quality and the Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Board will hold a consultants meeting on May 15, 2009. This meeting will use remote video conferencing for the Billings and Kalispell areas.
