The Montana Water and Wastewater Operator Certification program has two missions:
- To protect the public health and the environment by having certified operators in direct responsible charge of the operation of water treatment plants, water distribution systems, or wastewater treatment plants.
- To provide testing, recording, program information services and to ensure that comprehensive, ongoing training is given to Montana's water and wastewater operator community.
Invoices are mail out every April and fees are due my June 30th. The renewal fees paid by June 30th are applied to the following fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).
The following dates are an example of the renewal process and may vary slightly.
All wallet cards will be mailed after June 30th
CECs are earned during a two-year period. The biennium begins on June 1st of an even numbered year and ends on May 31st of the following even numbered year (2016-2018, 2018-2020, 2020-2022).
If an applicant takes and passes an exam during the first six months (June - December) of any given CEC biennium, the new operator is required to get CECs for the current biennium. Fully certified opererators are required to get the full numbers of CECs. Operators-in-Training are required to get one-half the number of CECs.
Mail renewal invoices in April every year and payment is due by June 30. The operator is paying for the upcoming year (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019).

Operator CEC (Continuing Education Credit) totals for the current Biennium which began on June 1, 2016 and ends on May 31, 2018. Please allow two - three weeks after attending training for your CECs to show up in your CEC totals.
