Petroleum Vapor Intrusion

Vapor Intrusion (VI) is the migration of volatile chemicals from the subsurface into overlying buildings (USEPA 2002b). Petroleum Vapor Intrusion (PVI) is a subcategory of VI specifically relating to petroleum hydrocarbons in the subsurface that have the potential to migrate into overlying buildings due to a petroleum release in the subsurface.
