Comment Sought on Colstrip Steam Electric Station Report
HELENA – The Department of Environmental Quality is seeking public comment on the Plant Site Remedy Evaluation Report for the waste water facilities at the Colstrip Steam Electric Station. The report is required under the Administrative Order on Consent between DEQ and Talen Montana LLC at Colstrip, which provides a mandatory procedure for investigation and remediation related to the waste water facilities.
A public meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at the Colstrip City Hall in Colstrip at 7 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend. DEQ will give a presentation on the report and will accept comments.
The report provides a description of the area where cleanup action is necessary, identifies feasible cleanup options, and identifies the preferred option.
Copies of the report are available at DEQ’s office at 1520 E. 6th Ave. in Helena, Talen Montana’s office at 303 N. Broadway, Suite 400 in Billings, and the Bicentennial Library, 419 Willow Ave. in Colstrip. The report is also available electronically at: http://deq.mt.gov/DEQAdmin/mfs/ColstripSteamElectricStation
The 30-day public comment period starts November 1, 2016 and ends November 30, 2016.
