Mining programs lauded for national environmental protection achievement

Awards to be presented at the 38th annual National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs in Bozeman, Sept. 26

Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and  The National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs will recognize Montana for the nation’s highest achievements in protecting public safety and the environment through innovative abandoned mine clean up practices. The awards will be presented for the Sand Coulee Water System Restoration Project near Great Falls and the McLaren Tailings Reclamation Project in Cooke City.

Public Comment Sought on Colstrip Reports

DEQ seeks comment on three reports regarding waste water facilities at the Colstrip Electric Station. The reports are required under the Administrative Order on Consent between DEQ and Talen Montana, LLC at Colstrip, which provides a mandatory procedure for investigation and remediation related to the waste water facilities.
