Interactive Web Mapping Application

Online Query Service

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has developed an interactive web mapping application that allows its users to explore data collected and managed by the Department. Currently DEQ’s Permitting and Compliance Division (Waste and Underground Tank Management Bureau), the State Superfund Unit (SSU), and the Petroleum Tank Release Compensation Board (PTRCB) are cooperatively providing database information via DEQ’s interactive web mapping application and Online Query Service tool.

To view database information on the interactive web mapping application website, do the following:

1. Click the following link to go to DEQ’s interactive web mapping application.
2. Once there, select Response Sites in the Map Layers menu to view all Site Response Section sites.
3. To see site specific information zoom into a particular area (using the zoom icon in the upper left corner of the map) and click on the icon.
4. A new window will appear providing basic location information. Click on the Response Sites Tab in this window to view database information related to the site.
5. Please note for those Montana DEQ Layers that you've made visible you can search for other sites within a user defined area. Simply click on an area in the map. In the Location Tab pop up window enter the buffer distance and a new window will show you the results of your search.

To view database information on the Online Query Service website, do the following:

1. Click the following link to go to the Online Query Service site.
2. Once there, you can either search a site by location or site name.
3. Once the results of your search are found you can then view the site(s) on a map by clicking the “View in Map” button.
4. Simply follow the interactive web mapping application directions 3 – 5 above to navigate through sites you have identified on the map.

You can also download a complete copy of the dataset (including GIS data) using the Download Data button provided on the query home page by clicking the Download Data button.
