Roosevelt County resolves Opencut Mining violations

HELENA -- Roosevelt County failed to comply with the requirements set forth in its Limited Opencut Operation Permit #3040 by removing more the 10,000 cubic yards of material and overburden, disturbing greater than five acres, and failing to salvage soil from the area to be disturbed.

Roosevelt County has returned to compliance with the Opencut Mining Act and corrected the violations by obtaining an opencut mining permit for the site and has paid a settlement penalty of $1,774.
