Opencut Mining operator resolves violation

HELENA -- Woodrock, Inc. conducted opencut operations on 4.0 acres outside its permitted boundary at the Stipek Gravel Pit in Dawson County, Montana. Woodrock also failed to conduct operations in accordance with the Department of Environmental Quality-approved Plan of Operation.  Woodrock will pay a $10,000 penalty and has committed to return to compliance with the Opencut Mining Act by amending its Opencut Mining Permit and conducting opencut operations in accordance with the permit’s Plan of Operation.
