Calumet Refining assessed clean air penalty

HELENA--Calumet Refining, LLC violated the Montana Clean Air Act at the refinery facility in Great Falls by: failing to continuously operate Continuous Opacity Monitoring System for the Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit; failing to continuously operate the Hydrogen Sulfide Continuous Emissions Monitoring System for the Refinery Flare; failing to demonstrate compliance with the Nitrous Oxides emission limit at the #2 Crude Unit, Mild Hydrocracker, Hydrogen Plant #2, and Hydrogen Plant #3 Process Heaters.


Calumet corrected the violations and DEQ assessed a $54,440 penalty.
