Climate Change & Energy

Energy Demand

As mentioned previously, the “demand side” of energy accounts for purchased fuels. This may be natural gas, heating oil, propane, or distilled fuels for transportation. Electricity, too, has a demand side. These energy products are used in homes, for personal transportation, businesses, and industry.

Personal and commercial transportation are addressed more thoroughly elsewhere on this website, as are institutional and public uses of energy. Agricultural energy issues are also addressed in a separate section.

This section examines energy demand in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors of the state and assesses each sector’s greenhouse gas emissions.
